Queens of Ancient Eqypt- Hatshepsut

Here is some information on a Queen named...............Hatsheput!

HATSHEPUT-

Born: 1502 BC-1458 BC

Family: Her mother was Ahmes. Her father was Tuthmosis (ruled Egypt for approximately 12 to 14 years).  Married Thutmose II.

About Her: Hatshepsut was not one to sit back and wait for her nephew to age enough to take her place.Hatshepsut was unusual: she was a woman, but ruled as a man: she was pharaoh in ancient Egypt. She was a successful ruler, too, remaining in power nearly 22 years until her death, longer than any other female ruler (there were only a handful in several thousand years) until Cleopatra. Although her reign was the beginning of a long, peaceful period in Egypt, she was successful in warfare when necessary. Her most important accomplishment was to re-establish the trade routes disrupted by previous conflicts, creating an ongoing source of wealth for Egypt. Hatshepsut, as a female, had many obstacles to overcome. There was always a threat of revolt, especially as her bitter nephew came of age. Using propaganda and keen political skills, she  jumped each hurdle she faced. To quell the fears of her people, she became a "king" in all during her reign. She even dressed in the traditional garb like a male ruler.

Death- (from blood test and research from present day) blood infection while she was in her 50s, and that she had arthritis, bad teeth, and probably diabetes as well.
